Do they have a chance at a playoff berth?

They've played well recently on the road. They go into St. Louis who have been struggling as of late. Schulman says no.

What do you think?

Schulman is a Glenn Dickey wanna be. He thinks he's being controversial by his negativity which he probably refers to as "non-biased", when in fact he's just not interesting nor insightful. He's just boring. The Giants have more than a reasonable chance in a mediocre division. Pitching wins championships. The Giants staff is the best in the division save possibly the Padres bullpen. Giants Starters 1-5 are the class of the division. Forget the wild card , the Giants will win it outright.

Not to grammar nazi on you, but the word is berth.

As to a playoff spot: the stats make it unlikely. Just assume an equal chance for the Bums, Pads or Giants to win the pennant and the Giants only have a 33% chance (obviously the odds are worse than that as the Dodgers have a three game lead)... Take away the Dodgers (assuming they win the pennant) and throw in the Phillies, Marlins, and Reds and the wild card spot is kind of unlikely too.

That said, I'm a fan and I see the Giants staying hot and putting pressure on the Dodgers and Padres. I'd like to think that the division title is still barely in reach of that close-out series with the Dodgers. At least they're making it fun, right?

One thing that I think Grady Little still carries along to this day is the mistake he made back in 2003 leaving Pedro Martinez in too long in the playoffs against NY. He couldn't get a job to save his life after that blown call. Losing follows some managers. This is nothing new to us Giants fans though--look at Dusty Baker. The guy never knew how to manage the bullpen (ehem! Russ Ortii ehem!).
