Mission Statement

It seems to me that Bay Area sports writers tend to know as much about baseball as Jeff Kent does about motorcycles. They sit huddled around their portable computers beating the BALCO story endlessly, completely forgetting there's an actual baseball game going on. I'm tired of reading about people who are looking to trash the lives of others for their own political purposes. I want to read about baseball again.

This is why I'm writing.

I love Giants baseball. I grew up just outside San Francisco watching Will Clark, Robby Thompson, Kevin Mitchell, Matt Williams and a young Bonds play in the 'stick. From these guys, I learned the very idea of competition, patience, grace and teamwork--the kind of things that seem to now have long past.

Sure 2002 was great, but looking back at the club of the early, mid 90's--those were the guys that kids admired. You knew that any given day, these guys were going to hustle down the first baseline every out. Win or lose, nobody ever questioned their effort. Now as we look at the current state of affairs, we look back and wonder why these San Francisco Giants greats have never been given their dues...it may not be the Chronicle, but that is going to end now...

This forum is for every Giants fan who wants to read a baseball point of view, as opposed to a politically correct one.

This forum is for the Matt Williams' and the Will Clarks', and all the other under appreciated veterans who played in an era of Giants baseball where fans would flock to the windiest stadium in America to catch a game they knew would be played the way baseball was meant to be played.

I'm not a published author and am not going to pretend to be. I just want to have somewhere to go to talk baseball. I couldn't find one, so I figured I'd create one on my own.

So here's to the 'Stick and the hope that one day soon, the name "SF Giants" becomes again what it once used to be known for--purely baseball.

Chris, I moved to Houston last year after living 45 years in the Bay Area, San Jose to be exact. I NEEEEED to talk Giants. I miss them terribly. I can only see games if they play the Astros Cubs Braves and ocassionally an ESPN or FOX game. I am no authour or even a college grad for that matter, but an 8 year old saw Willie Mays play in 1967 at the Stick before it was enclosed and he's been in love with baseball and the Giants ever since. Glad to, no, honored and thrilled to talk Giants with you. Lou

Hey Lou, great to hear your story. Mine is pretty similar--right now I'm out in Boston and stuck here for another year before I move back home. I grew up in the Bay Area and my parents are still there, so I only make it back for holidays. This will be the first season of my life where I have only gone to one game. Now I catch every game either on the extra innings package or mlb tv (which you should definitely look into). Looking forward to talking some baseball with you. Thanks again for the post. Chris.
